RM-CPHA1840-12 Circularly Polarized Horn Antenna for 18–40 GHz Millimeter-Wave Testing

RF MISO’s RM-CPHA1840-12 Circularly Polarized Horn Antenna is designed for wideband applications from 18 to 40 GHz, combining broad frequency coverage with a compact and lightweight mechanical structure.

The antenna is available in either right-hand circular polarization (RHCP) or left-hand circular polarization (LHCP). Circular polarization helps reduce sensitivity to the relative orientation between transmitting and receiving antennas, making the RM-CPHA1840-12 particularly useful in systems where platform attitude, signal direction, or installation angle may change during operation or testing.

With 12 dBi typical gain, the antenna provides useful directivity for millimeter-wave measurements while maintaining a controlled gain profile across the operating band. The simulation results show increasing gain toward the upper portion of the frequency range, supporting focused radiation and improved link performance in high-frequency test environments.

Stable impedance matching is equally important in a broadband measurement chain. The RM-CPHA1840-12 offers a typical VSWR of 1.5:1, helping limit reflected power and support efficient energy transfer between the antenna and connected RF equipment. A 2 dB typical axial ratio indicates good circular-polarization quality, which is essential when engineers need to preserve polarization integrity and reduce unwanted polarization mismatch.

The antenna integrates a circular polarizer, waveguide transition structure, and conical horn into a streamlined assembly. This architecture supports relatively symmetrical beam behavior in the principal planes, making the antenna suitable for repeatable far-field evaluation, RF radiation testing, and comparative antenna measurements. The radiation patterns provided at frequencies from 18 to 40 GHz also give engineers a practical view of beam evolution across the full operating range.

Mechanical integration is another strength of the design. Measuring approximately 129.6 mm in length with a 28 mm diameter, and weighing only 82 grams, the RM-CPHA1840-12 can be installed in compact laboratory fixtures, positioning systems, airborne platforms, and space-conscious millimeter-wave equipment. Its aluminum construction and painted finish provide a balance of low weight, structural durability, and professional industrial appearance.

The standard configuration uses a 2.92 mm Female interface and supports 20 W average power and 40 W peak power. Additional connector configurations may also be discussed according to system requirements.
